Josh Allen Answers Question on Hailee Steinfeld Engagement in Winning Fashion |
A week after Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen popped the question to Hailee Steinfeld, he revealed what it was like to get back on the field after their engagement.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback had the best response to a reporter’s question about how it felt heading home with a victory after the Bills defeated the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 1, while recently engaged to Hailee Steinfeld.
“It felt good,” Josh said of his turn as fiancé during the post-game news conference with wide receiver Amari Cooper Dec. 1. "Felt free."
It's been a busy past few days for the football player — who was on the field for the first time since proposing — as he also became the first quarterback in NFL history during his 49ers face-off to pass for, rush for and catch a touchdown in one game, Sunday Night Football on NBC confirmed.
And a week earlier, the 28-year-old — who also set the record for most touchdowns in the Bills' franchise history during the game — popped the question to the Hawkeye star in front of a flower-adorned arch overlooking the glimmering waves.
However, despite the flurry of interest in their relationship status in recent days, Josh and Hailee, 27, have been tight-lipped about their romance. In fact, shortly after they both revealed their sweet milestone, the NFL player danced around it while contemplating his bye week.
“It was incredible,” he said of the time away during a news conference on Nov. 27. "It was great. I took some sun, and I spent time with family. It was fantastic."
But Josh didn't come to his decision to keep his and Hailee's relationship private lightly. He previously mentioned how surprised he was by how interested people were in their relationship and some of the measures that some paparazzi had taken to get photos of them.
“The fact anybody gives a damn about that still blows my mind,” he said on the Pardon My Take podcast last August. "They were on a boat. When I saw it, I just got this gross feeling. The insecurity, no privacy. I was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ "
That doesn’t mean he and the Edge of Seventeen star don’t share aspects of their personal life, though. With Christmas fast approaching, Hailee recently shared that last year they both gifted each other the same gift, along with the sweet story behind their exchange.
“I bought this knife for Josh last year for Christmas because cooking is an activity we enjoy doing together,” she told her newsletter Beau Society in October, according to Sports Illustrated. “For Christmas he got me…the same one but in a different colorway!
“After we exchanged our knives lol,” she went on, “told me there’s an old wive’s tale that if you give your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it means the severing of a relationship. So we gave each other quarters so we didn’t have that bad omen.”
