A bride was brought to tears en route to her wedding when her Uber driver dramatically revealed the tragic love story of his life.

Given that online wedding-planning platform The Knot recently calculated the average cost of a wedding and its reception in the U.S. to be a whopping $35,000 for 2023, based on the responses of nearly 10,000 couples who tied the knot this year, it’s not surprising if the pressure of the occasion gets to a few brides and grooms.

Marrying your someone special can be an intense and emotional experience, so there will probably be a few tears shed, whether you are watching on as a guest or standing in front of the altar.

On Camry Carbol’s older sister Kindsey’s wedding day back on November 15, though, the tears began a bit earlier than that, and for altogether unexpected reasons.

Carbol lives in Dallas but was staying back in her hometown of Chicago for the wedding. “It was Kindsey’s for her and I to hang out the evening before her big day and have some quality time together,” Carbol explained to Newsweek. “She wanted me to help her collect her stuff and her thoughts before we got in an Uber to the venue.”

But once they got into the Uber, their plans took a rather different turn. Carbol said it isn't unusual for her and her sister to start talking with drivers "We are always pretty open to chats when we Uber so when we met our driver he obviously discovered that it was her wedding day," she said.

Carbol said that from there, the conversation quickly “turned” into something neither of them was anticipating to hear that day. He was sweet, of course, and we started an organic conversation that ended with him opening up: A month before his wedding his woman had ghosted him flat.”

The story clearly got through to Kindsey. “As you can imagine her emotions were through the roof on her big day and the more he talked the more her watery eyes turned into giant tears,” Carbol said. “She was really sympathizing with him.”

That was about when Carbol decided to take out her phone and start recording. “And obviously as her little sister I had to tell TikTok,” she said.

The resulting clip, which shows Kindsey crying in the back of the cab, was shared on TikTok under the username @camryjc. It may have taken them by surprise, but Carbol believes the Uber driver’s account was quite beneficial.

“I think it was probably a huge reminder of how excited she was knowing that she was in great hands,” she said. “They had the most beautiful day surrounded by so much love! They truly are a match made in heaven.”

Carbol also tied up his loose ends and let things down easily with the driver. “The Uber driver was super sweet and gave my sister his card if she ever needed a ride anywhere. “We would have given him six stars if we could have.”

She said the encounter reminded her that everybody has similar love stories, of varying stripe. “It felt like such a raw moment where two people's love stories were coming together in an Uber,” she said.

Carbol hopes the video encourages people to “not take love for granted and capture all of the crazy moments in life.” “I think as her little sister, I love that’s how our last morning with the same last name ended: we’re having this very unique human experience together and we’re laughing about crying together,” she said. “Best express life, and sisterhood.
